Clarence Buel Hollis, age 91 of Lavonia, Georgia and formerly of Trion passed away on Wednesday, November 01, 2017 following an extended illness.
Born in LaFayette, Georgia on May 18, 1926, he was a son of the late Buel & Maryetta McWhorter Hollis. Mr. Hollis served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked for many years with Mount Vernon Mills and retired from Trion Police Department. In his spare time, Mr. Hollis enjoyed woodworking and sharpening saw blades. Mr. Hollis served as an Elder with the Pennville Church of Christ and in recent years, attended Toccoa Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus Baker, sisters, Bessie Mae Edwards & Jean Huggins, and a sister-in-law, Beth Hollis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, June Mahan Hollis of Lavonia, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Marlyn Hollis of Lavonia, GA; Jeanne & Joe Nasworthy of Rome, GA; Sandra & Terry Baker of Chickamauga, GA; brother, Max Hollis of Trion, GA; grandchildren, Mandy & Chet Baker of Mt. Airy, GA; April & Matthew Welch of Wildwood, MO; great-grandchildren, Amelia June Baker & Riley Hollis Baker, both of Mt. Airy, GA; Maddie & Abby Welch, both of St. Louis MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends, special family friends, Robert & Margaret Gunn of Toccoa, GA.
A memorial service honoring Mr. Hollis’ life will be held at 2 pm, on Saturday, November 04, 2017 at the Pennville Church of Christ with Minister Robby Eversole officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 pm, prior to the service on Saturday.
