Mr. Wayne Erastus Carpenter, age 91, of South Big A Road in Toccoa passed
away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Rose City Rehab in Thomasville, Georgia.
A son of the late Oscar and Lena Burgess Carpenter, he was born May 4, 1926
in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all of his life. He was retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a rural route mail carrier after forty-four years of service. Mr. Carpenter was a member at Ebenezer Baptist Church and member of the Men’s Sunday school class at the church. He also taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon at Ebenezer. He was a former member of The Toccoa Lion’s Club, a member of NARFE, and was an active member of the Letter Carrier Association. Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Deal Carpenter that passed away in 2016, a granddaughter, Cheryl Carpenter, a brother, Frank Carpenter, and by two sisters, Evelyn Collins and Barbara Harrison.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Carpenter Beaty and Mike Beaty of Thomasville, Ga., two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Wayne Carpenter and Glenda Carpenter and Kermit Harold Carpenter and Leeann Carpenter all of Woodstock, Ga., four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Leslie Beaty, Melanie and Steven Johnson, Tina and Benji Starnes, Christian Carpenter, and Shelby Carpenter, nine great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and by a brother, John Mark Carpenter of Flowery Branch, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. from The Ebenezer Baptist Church with The Reverend Andy Childs, The Reverend Jerry Stowe, and The Reverend Michael Beaty officiating.
The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers, Christian Carpenter, Michael Beaty, Benji Starnes, Steven Johnson, Daniel Cook, and Dusty Cook. Please assemble at The Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday by 1:15 p.m.
The family is at the home on South Big A Road, Toccoa, and will receive friends at The Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening.
