John Richard Garrett

John Richard Garrett, age 77, of Gainesville, GA went home to be with our Lord on October 15, 2017.

A  funeral mass will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1440 Pearce Circle, Gainesville.

John was born in Wyandotte, MI on June 22, 1940 to Hiram Richard and Johanna (Mahalak) Garrett. John moved to Georgia in 1964, where he met his best friend and future wife Beverly Garrett. 

John served in the U.S. Navy and then worked at Stork GAMCO for 31 years. After retirement he served his community by delivering food for Meals on Wheels. John was an active member of St. Michael's Knights of Columbus. 

John is preceded in death by both parents, his sister Roslyn Duve, his brother David Garrett and his sister Johanna Graczyk. 

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly Garrett of Gainesville, GA; his three children Chrystal and Horace Harris of Gainesville, GA; Katie Garrett and Pasi Miettinen of Arlington, MA; Shawn and Laura Garrett of Clermont, GA, five grandchildren, Angel and Joe Carrier of Alstead, NH; Jeremy and Angelina Robertson of Gainesville, GA; Sophia, Isabella and Alexandria Miettinen-Garrett of Arlington, MA and five great-grandchildren Skyler Ward and Hunter and Lilly Robertson of Gainesville, GA; Marshall and Luxie Carrier of Alstead, NH. 

John leaves a legacy of love with his beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
