Mary C. “Peggy” Haney Compton

Mary C. “Peggy” Haney Compton, age 76, of Buford, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Harry Compton; parents, Allen and Mary Thornton Haney; and sister, Patricia Ann Haney Johnson. Mrs. Compton is survived by her son, Kirk Compton, Buford, GA; daughter, Lorilee Compton, Buford, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Pinkie and George Pilgrim, Royston, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bubby and Teresa Haney, Lawrenceville, GA, Butch and Tammy Haney, Buford, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sam Johnson, Cannon, GA, Jerome and Annette Compton, Flowery Branch, GA, Melinda Compton Ridgeway, Buford, GA; uncles and aunts, Tommy and Patsy Thornton, Buford, GA, Jesse and Sara Haney, Buford, GA; aunts, Marie Haney Berry, Buford, GA, Ima Haney Clark, Buford, GA, Willene Haney, Buford, GA, Sue Plunkett Haney, Buford, GA, and Lida Couch Haney, Flowery Branch, GA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mrs. Compton was born October 7, 1941 in Buford and was a 1959 graduate of South Hall High School. She retired as church secretary from New Bethany Baptist Church with over thirty years of service. She was a founding member of Crossview Baptist Church in Braselton, GA and was a former member of New Bethany Baptist Church for most of her life. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossview Baptist Church, 1219 Highway 124, Hoschton, GA 30548 in memory of Peggy Compton.
