Earnest Floyd Garner, age 66 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Monday, October 02, 2017.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on August 11, 1951, he was a son of the late Rufus Garner & Isabella Eller Garner. Mr. Garner was a former Supervisor of Sanitation with the City of Cornelia. He was a member of the Gospel Way Quartet and was of the Baptist faith. In his spare time, Mr. Garner enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Tench, Jeanette Burson, brothers, Marvin Garner & Allen Garner, granddaughter, Brittany Whittle, & great-granddaughter, Heaven Addis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Sandra Bowen Garner of Cornelia, GA; sons, W.A. Garner of Alto, GA; Justin Smith of Mt. Airy, GA; Tim King of Louisiana; daughters, Lisa Carter of Clarkesville, GA; Elaine Williams of Dahlonega, GA; Lynn Ledford of Cleveland, GA; Betty Parsons of Royston, GA; sister, Linda McAvoy of Washington, GA; brother, Roy Garner of Fort Mohave, AZ; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 05, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Burns & Rev. Nathaniel DuBois officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Barry Bowman officiating at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5 p.m. & 7 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
