Joseph “Joe” Holbrook, 86, of Gainesville, GA. passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017.
Joe was born in Orangeburg, SC, to Joseph and Yona Holbrook. He spent his early years in Roanoke, VA, moving to Atlanta as a teenager. He married Valeria (Val) Wetherford on July 3, 1954, in East Point, Ga and they resided in Gainesville thereafter. Joe was a devoted husband to Val and she was the love of his life. Joe was the father and “Pop-Pop” everyone would desire. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and going to Daytona.
Joe was self-employed, owning a Home Improvement Company for many decades. He loved remodeling and working closely with home owners. He was renowned for the quality of his work and his genuine kindness for all who met him and worked alongside of him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John W. Holbrook and Robert N. (Bobby) Holbrook.
Joe is survived by his wife, Valeria (Val) Holbrook; daughters, Deborah (Gary) Vermaat and Yona Single; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Guveiyian (Mike); Jamie Foster (John); Jessica Ledwith (Michael); Kelli Vermaat; Geoffrey (Anna) Single; Thomas Single; and Megan Single, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. George Lee will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronnie Green Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Health System, The Alzheimer’s Association or any organization of their choice.
