Cordelia (Claudia) Matthews, age 99 of Commerce, GA went to be with her sweet Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Homer, GA on Oct. 10, 1917, Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Dillard and Mary M. McCoy Eubanks of Banks County. She was the widow of Asa Buckley Matthews, and a homemaker. Her greatest job, however, was being a mother to her children and a grandmother. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her children, Daniel, Michael and Tom.
Survivors include daughter, Lucille Wilson, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Buckie and Sharon Matthews, Milledgeville; daughters-in-law, Donna, Jane, and Dianne, who was also her caregiver; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; special friends, Hazel Benton, Nancy Smallwood, Evelyn Christian and Thelma Lynn.
Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, Oct. 01, 2017 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Harbin officiating. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-3 pm Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
