Rebekah Oliver, 77, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday September 26, 2017 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born August 11, 1940 to the late Jim and Luna Tatum, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A graduate of Dawson County High School, she attended Reinhardt College and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in education from the University of Georgia. Rebekah retired as a teacher in the Dawson County School System after over 40 years of service. She was a member of Juno Baptist Church where she served as the director of Vacation Bible School for over 20 years, and she enjoyed reading, her animals, and was very devoted to her family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Oliver and a granddaughter, Savannah Stowers.
Surviving are her children, Chris and Maria Oliver, Moscow, Russia, Jimmy and Karen Oliver, Dawsonville, Candy Oliver and her fiancé, Randy Wilson, Hiawassee; grandchildren, Christian Oliver, Claire Oliver, Daniel Oliver, Hayley Stowers, Alana Stowers; Randy’s children, Dillon, Madison, Daniel; sister, Mary Ruth Tatum, Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, J. D. and Dorothy Tatum, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 30, 2017 at 11 o’clock at Juno Baptist Church. Rev. Brody Hughes, Rev. Dennis Bottoms, and Rev. Tim Biddy will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 until 8 at the funeral home.
