Marie Green

Marie Thomas Green died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 on her 91st birthday at Orchard at Tucker Assisted Living.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard O. Green and her siblings and their spouses: Guy Franklin, Speedy (Dot) Thomas, Dean (Jimmie) Thomas, Eugene (Louise) Thomas, and Nannie Rose Thomas Lance.  
 
Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Carey Huddlestun of Atlanta, GA, grandson, John Huddlestun of Seattle, WA, sister-in-law, Leona Green, and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Born in Cleveland, GA to Joe and Frana Richardson Thomas on September 20, 1926, Marie moved to Gainesville after graduating from high school. She lived in Gainesville until 2015 when she moved to be closer to her daughter. Marie was a dedicated and active member of New Bridge Baptist Church until her declining health prevented her regular attendance. Having a serving heart, she cared for family and friends and volunteered for many organizations: Road to Recovery, Ronnie Green Heart Center, and Lifeline (all associated with Northeast Georgia Medical Center), and the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as a bookkeeper for the Ford Tractor and Equipment Dealership in Gainesville prior to retiring.
 
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 on Friday evening, September 22, 2017 at Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The celebration of life service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at New Bridge Baptist Church in Gainesville. Rev. Milton Harris will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross, New Bridge Baptist Church, or Eagle Ranch.
