Mildred “Elouise” Loudermilk Carpenter, age 90, of the View Community on Pea Ridge in Cornelia, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior in Glory on Friday, September 15, 2017.
Mrs. Carpenter was born on June 3, 1927, in Chamblee, Georgia, to the late Velma Ophelia Holt and William Cannon Loudermilk IV. She was also preceded in death by siblings and their spouses and in-laws: Wealthea and Gus Kerr, Sam and Mae Loudermilk, Joe and Barbara Loudermilk, Dot and Sarge Edwards, Neil Loudermilk, Rev. Gene Batson, Pat Loudermilk, Nelson Bramlett, Bill and Della Carpenter, Clifford and Marge Carpenter; and grandson, Jonas O’Neil Carpenter. She was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and the Sunshine Band. Upon retirement, Elouise grew to love the art of quilting. Mrs. and Mr. Carpenter loved to travel our country and visit with family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, Lee Carpenter; daughter, Susan of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Shirley of Sun City, AZ and Rodney and Jane of Baldwin, GA; sisters: Jo Loudermilk of Alabama, Evelyn Batson of Cleveland, and Dorothy Bramlett of Demorest; brothers: James Loudermilk of Ellijay, William Cannon “Dub” Loudermilk V and wife, Betty of Newnan, Billy Ray Loudermilk and wife, Carolyn of Murphy, NC, and Jim Carpenter and wife, Joan of Union Point; five grandchildren: Kevin and Melissa, Michele and David, Kellie and Joe, Alton and Genevieve, and Travis Vinson; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private graveside services were held at Level Grove Cemetery on Sunday, September 17, 2017, with Dr. Brian James officiating.
