Mr. James Allen Head Sr., age 74, of Dahlonega, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Mr. Head was born in Hall County on August 20, 1943 to the late Luther R. and Cona Bell Grizzle Head. He has lived in Lumpkin County most of his life. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his former wife and friend Rose Ann Head Thilges; brothers, Edward Wimpy and John Carlton Wimpy. Mr. Head was a licensed insurance agent for over 40 years. He had worked and retired from Georgia Farm Bureau. Mr. Head was the founder and owner of Cona Corp and Rose of Sharon Convenience Stores. He was a Mason and Past Master of the Blue Mountain Lodge #38 F&AM of Dahlonega. Mr. Head was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Sharon Head and Stephen Caldwell, Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, James Allen Jr. and Joyce Head, Dahlonega; Grandchildren, Ashley Beatty and Chris McGurkin, Charlotte, NC; Tyler James Beatty, Dawsonville; James Allen III “A.J.” and Jennifer Gay Head, Dahlonega; Joshua Andrew and Amber Brooke Head, Dahlonega; Dakota Lynn Head and William Fulcher, Dahlonega; great grandchildren, Lydia Rose McGurkin; Elizabeth Jane McGurkin; Mary Jane Riley Head; Cona Bell London Head; brother and sister in law, R.F. and Blonnie Wimpy, Dahlonega.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
