Katherine R. "Rosie" Smith

Katherine R. (Rosie) Smith, 89, of Gainesville passed away September 17, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Wayne Hicks and Reverend Bobby Griffin will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m

            Born on September 23, 1927 in New Holland, Katherine was the daughter of the late Claude S. and Ellie Loggins. Katherine was a lifelong textile employee, having worked at Milliken and Chicopee Lumite Mill. Katherine was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

            Katherine loved gospel music, travel and spending time with her grandchildren.

            In addition to her parents, Katherine is preceded in death by her grandson, Robby Hewell and great granddaughter, Kyleigh Beth Hewell.

            Katherine is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirlene and Rick Hewell, Faye and Randall Young; grandsons, Marty Young, Corey Young, Kyle Hewell; great grandchildren, Kayden Hewell, Kylen Hewell, Kynsleigh Hewell, Kolston Hewell, Ellie Young, Walker Young, Dalton Young, Jake Wilson, Callie Wilson; sister, Thelma Sosebee; sisters-in-law, Virginia Loggins and Mary Loggins and numerous other loving nieces and nephews.

            Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.
