Albert Q. Pirkle, 78, of Buford, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Pastor Kevin Mangum officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Born April 9, 1939 in Vinings, GA, Mr. Pirkle was the son of the late Dora Wilson Pirkle and Wiley Earnest Pirkle. Mr. Pirkle Retired with the rank USAF Tech Sgt. after 20 years of service. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Pirkle retired from Rockwell Automation with 22 years of service.
He was a dedicated believer in Jesus Christ and a prayer warrior who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family with all his heart. He was a loyal contributor to Shriners Hospital. Mr. Pirkle had many heroes including the Diagnostic Clinic, Dr. Nadella and staff and the nurses at the Infusion Center. He was very grateful for the Hope Lodge in Atlanta and the Winship Cancer Center at Emory.
Mr. Pirkle is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Earnest Pirkle and Dora Wilson Pirkle; brothers, Tom Pirkle, Gene Pirkle, Edward Pirkle, and Jerry Pirkle.
Mr. Pirkle is survived by his children, Danielle (Alan) Poettker of Belleville, Illinois; Quinn (Donna) Pirkle Jr. of Waterloo, Illinois; Jeanette (Robert) Lash of Buford, Georgia; and Laura (James) Burgess of Belleville, Illinois. 11 Grandchildren: Tiffany Pirkle (IL), Kristina Crawford (Steven Hammond) (IL), Rachel Poettker (IL), Daniel Carter Jr., Brian (Erica) Carter, Nicholas Poettker (IL), Jolene (James) Willmering (IL), Josh Pirkle (IL), Evan Burgess(IL), Jordan Pirkle (IL), and Elijah Burgess (IL). 4 Great-grandchildren: Ellie Pirkle (IL), Madelyn Crawford (IL), Tatum Hammond (IL), and Annabelle Carter (GA); brother, Jack Pirkle of Texas; sisters, Marie Jones of Murrayville, Georgia; Grace Shadburn of Talmo, Georgia; Rosemary Pirkle-Cantrell of Cleveland, Georgia; and Wyolene Parker of Oakwood, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
