Mr. Rueben L. “Jim” Flippen, age 70 of Gainesville, passed away on September 13, 2017.
Jim was born on December 30, 1946 in Roderfield, West Virginia to the late James Flippen and Bonnie Helen Lanreth. He made Gainesville his home for the past 31 years. Jim served 18 years in the Army and 9 years in the Marine Corp. before retiring. After retiring from the military, Jim worked for Money Tree Financial Service before retiring. He was a beloved father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Flippen of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Hakan Akers of Ogdensburg, NY; daughter Susan Stumbo of Chesapeake, VA; daughter and son-in-law Alita and Steve Pittman of Orlando, FL; daughter and son-in-law Angel and Tony Blackmon of Gilbertsville, KY; daughter Amanda Crenshaw of Paducah, KY; son Scottie Flippen of Gainesville; son Chris Wood of Gainesville; daughter Amy Wood of Gainesville; brother Roger Flippen of Dandridge, TN; sister Ester Muncey of Roderfield, WV; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions to be made to Gainesville – Hall County Cancer Society, 2565 Thompson Bridge Rd Ste 114, Gainesville, GA 30501, in honor of Jim.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Rev. Drewery Loggins will be officiating.
