Richard Lem Wintersteen of Cumming, GA, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017, at approximately 1:14 p.m. He was born in Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas on March 15, 1924. He was born to Lemuel Shadduck Wintersteen and Mabel Kate Bratton Wintersteen. He had two sisters, Mary Martha Wintersteen, Helen Louise Wintersteen, and two brothers, William Bratten Wintersteen, and Harold Kenneth Wintersteen; his deceased wife, Frances Lee Wintersteen, and Richard has three children, Donna Lynn Wintersteen, Richard Eric Wintersteen, and Harold Kirk Wintersteen. Richard also has one grandson, Richard Dylan Wintersteen.
Richard grew up poor in the Great Depression, as did many of his generation. Richard and his family had a strong work ethic that Richard maintained throughout his life. He worked 30 plus years at the General Motors plant in Doraville. Mr. Wintersteen was very patriotic and gave great service to his country during World War II. Richard was very devoted to his wife and gave her great comfort at the end of her life.
Funeral services for Mr. Wintersteen will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Dr. James A. Clark officiating. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 am until the hour of service.
