Margaret Adeline Humphries Orr, of Murrayville, passed away after a short illness on Sept 13, 2017. She was 93 years old.
Margaret was a longtime member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and the family is thankful for all of the graciousness of the members during this difficult time. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jacob Ernest Orr Jr, parents Homer and Chloe Humphries, Sisters, Bertie Atwood, Frances Mitchell, and Helen Berry. Margaret and Ernest were for married 21 years before being blessed with two lovely daughters.
She is survived by Melody Orr of Murrayville, Anita Orr Foster, son in law Scott Foster of Cumming, and grandchildren Greg Foster of Charleston, SC and Alison Johnson of Peachland, NC.
Margaret was quite the innovator. Margaret could sew, build, and create most anything for practical use around the home. She designed and built furniture, improvised her own original storage solutions in the 1960’s and 70’s before DIY was cool. Margaret made doll and Barbie clothes, and even built a Barbie high rise for her girls. Margaret loved to cook and plan meals and she continued to do so right up to her last days at home.
Margaret loved her family. Her home and beds were often full of family, for siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 3pm - 6pm Saturday September 16, 2017 at the Funeral home. Mrs. Orr will lie in state from 3:00 pm-3:30pm Sunday September 17, 2017 at Yellow Creek Church, Murrayville, GA.
