James Wesley Wilson, age 88, of Buford, GA passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Paul Wilson. He is survived by his sister, Ann Wilson Yancey, Buford, GA; nephew, Dean Yancey, Buford, GA; daughters, Julie Yarbrough, Loganville, GA, Susan Wilson, Lake Charles, LA and Belinda Saldivar, Houston, TX; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Wilson was born April 8, 1929 in Atlanta, GA. He was a 1946 graduate of Boys High School in Atlanta, GA. He was retired from the U. S. Navy after twenty-one years of service having served in the Korean Conflict and stationed on the USS Missouri and was also a member of the crew when the Enterprise was put in service. He was also a Vietnam veteran. Mr. Wilson received the Bronze Star during his military career. He was retired from Sun Life Insurance Company after twenty-four years of service as a computer operator.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Buford where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class that is taught by Joe Avery, member of the Silvertone Choir, member of the Abundant Life Fellowship where he served on the Church Transportation Committee. He enjoyed fishing, golf, sports and traveling with his family and church groups.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Johnson and Pastor Stephen Fountain officiating. Graveside service and interment will be follow at 3:30 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
