J.T. Brown, 71 of Talmo passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Buddy Thigpen and Reverend Bill Compton officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Born on January 6, 1946 in Gainesville, GA he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Minnie Mae Nalley Brown. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Bible Baptist Church for 38 years. He had most recently attended Belmont Baptist Church. He was a man of few words but his family knew he loved them. He provided for his family in many ways. He was the owner and operator of JT Brown Trucking for 29 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his sister Willie Ree Shockley and father in law, Carlos Barlowe.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 50 years, Velma Brown of Talmo; daughter and son in law, Patricia and Donnie Wetherford of Talmo; son and daughter in law, Tim and Lisa Brown of Hoschton; grandchildren, Donald Wetherford, Michael Wetherford, DJ Wetherford and wife, Caitlin, Hannah Brown, Caleb Wetherford, Andrew Wetherford and future wife Delsy, Hunter Brown, Savannah Wetherford; great grandchildren, Kennedy, Adelaide; mother in law, Estelle Barlowe of Talmo; sisters and brothers in law, Mattie and YD Haynes of Lula, Glenda and Phil Davis of Talmo, Carla and Chuck Smith of Carnesville; brother in law, Carlos Barlowe, Jr. of Talmo.
