Arnold "Junior" Jones Jr.

Obituary Date: Saturday, September 2, 2017

 

Rev. Arnold Jones, Jr. “Junior”, 83 years old passed away on September 2, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Poole, Reverend Jerry Whitlock and Reverend Eddie Winkler officiating.  Prayer by special friend Danny Freeman. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Born on August 14, 1934 in Gainesville, GA he was the son of the late Wm. Arnold and Maude Bell Jones.

Junior grew up in Gainesville and graduated Air Line High School in 1953. He was a member of East View Baptist Church.  He joined the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War.

Junior was a builder for numerous years but, his most cherished “job” was serving God thru ministry for fifty plus years. Junior was a family man. He loved nothing better than spending time with them. He was an avid Braves fan. He also enjoyed camping, tending to his goats, gardening, playing softball and deep sea fishing.

In addition to his parents, Junior is preceded in death by his daughter, Sonja Wingo; brother, William “Dub” Jones and sister, Geneva Jones Harkins.

            Arnold “Junior” is survived by his spouse, Laura Sue Pinson Jones and children; Greg and Joan Jones, Jeff and Kim Jones all of Gainesville, Suzanne and Danny Chadwick of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Neil and Drew Wingo, Keeley Scates, Sha Hulsey, Whitney Hudgins, Hilarey Vaughn, Logan Jones, Kenley and Cooper Chadwick; great grands, Jacob, Addisyn, Hallie, Charlie, Audrey, Knox, Lake and a host of nieces and nephews.

Message from the family: We lost a wonderful man who can never be replaced. There are no words that can express the loss of our “Pop”. He touched so many lives with his vibrant personality and energy. He was strong in his faith and serving others. His last words to us were “Enjoy Life” “Enjoy Life” which he did at its fullest. We hope you hold your memories of him forever close to your heart.
