Nancy Annette Canup, age 79, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Canup was born on February 21, 1938, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Doyle and Sally Tench Williams. She was also preceded in death by her son, Danny Thomas Canup; sisters: Coralee Key, Joann Moore, Ruth Thomas, and Ethel Rickman; brothers, Tom Williams and Alvin Williams; and grandchild, George Deverger. During her working career, Mrs. Canup had been employed with Clarkesville Mill, Reigel Textiles, now known as Mt. Vernon Mills, and Fieldale Farms. After working at Fieldale Farms she moved on to work as a caregiver in various positions. Her greatest love was being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Canup was of the Nondenominational Christian faith.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Canup of Mt. Airy; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne Standridge Adams and Stanley and Brenda and Larry Deverger, all of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Sandy Canup and William and Genna Canup, all of Mt. Airy; brother, Junior Williams of Demorest; sister, Carolyn Canup of Alto; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with George Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the funeral home.
