Jeanette Lea Dyer passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
She was born on May 19, 1950, to the late George Alvin and Merrill Louise Fitzgerald Deininger. Jeanette was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, but moved to California as a young child. She met David on a cruise to Alaska in 1995, and relocated to Northeast Georgia the next year.
Jeanette loved to travel, and during her life she cruised the Danube River; saw the palaces of St. Petersburg, Russia; crossed Abbey Road like the Beatles, and camped in the wilds of Banff, Canada. She played adult softball (resulting in a broken pinky finger, which was treated with a hot pink cast shaped like a VW bug), perfected chili con carne, and lent an ear to friends and family who needed it. She taught her daughter everything—ABCs, how to bake, how to ride a bike and drive a car. Eva’s favorite gift from her mother was a world atlas in 1981, which inspired lifelong curiosity in foreign culture. Jeanette read constantly, and inspired her daughter to do so as well.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother, John Deininger.
She is survived by her husband, David Dyer, lifelong resident of Turnerville and her daughter, Dr. Eva Lizer of New Hampshire; sister, Kathy Robillard; brother, Norman Deininger, and twin, Lynette Deininger, as well as adopted Georgia family members Herman Dyer of Turnerville and Suzanne and Wesley Gailey of Gainesville.
Jeanette loved animals, and never turned away a stray. We ask that in her memory you act kindly to animals, especially those in need.
