Rev. Newton Jackson, Jr., age 88 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017.
Mr. Jackson was born on July 30, 1929, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Newton Jackson, Sr. and Emma Wooten Jackson. Junior was a member of Mossy Creek Baptist Church and was a pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Cornelia for 7 years and also pastored in Utah for 16 years. Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the United States Air Force and previously worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a foreman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Jackson; brother, Rondal Jackson; and sister, Alvastine Moore.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Robyn Jackson, Cleveland; daughter, Lena Jacobsen, Kearns, UT; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Larry Beebe, Kearns, UT; grandchildren, Beth Kolleman, Ryan Beebe, Korey Jacobsen, Todd Jacobsen, Shelbie Jackson, Amber Murphy, Dasha Somer; 23 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Reba Alexander, Jewanda Satterfield, and Annetta Alexander.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bryan Satterfield and the Rev. Milton Harris will officiate. Interment will follow at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Bowen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
