Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Hunsinger age 64, of Dahlonega, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017.
Tommy was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on July 20, 1953 to the late Paul and Juanita Garrett Hunsinger. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Brown and mother in law, Opal Southern. Tommy attended Lumpkin County High School. He loved his job, which he was retired from, as a truck driver. Tommy was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Hunsinger, Dahlonega; daughter and son in law, Amber and Jarred Ricketts, Gainesville; son, James Paul Hunsinger, Virginia; Grandchildren Sophia Belle Ricketts, Gainesville; Shelsia Hunsinger, Brittany Hunsinger, Paul Hunsinger, Emily Hunsinger, all of Virginia; sister and brother in law, Vera and Steve Ethridge, Dahlonega; brother and sister in law, Charlie and Debbie Hunsinger, Dahlonega; sisters, Frances Maloch, Dahlonega; Debbie Anderson, White, GA; sister and brother in law, Lynn and Doug Gooch, Dahlonega; father in law, Harold Southern, Dahlonega, brother in law, Keith Southern, brother in law and his girlfriend Brian Southern and Liz Ramsay, both of Dahlonega; several nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog, Mary Jane.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Tommy’s wishes were to be cremated after the service.
