Gean Brookshire Sutton

Mrs. Gean Brookshire Sutton, age 94, of Dahlonega, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Northeast GA Medical Center. 

Mrs. Sutton was a native and lifetime resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on May 29, 1923 to the late Harvey and Aldie Carroll Brookshire. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Sutton; daughter, Janice Seabolt; sisters, Louise Phillips and Lorene Conner.  Mrs. Sutton was one of the founders of the Cavenders Creek Good Will Circle and a member of Cavenders Creek Baptist Church, both of which she was a very active member.  Mrs. Sutton had a love for singing solos and singing in the church choir.  

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Delores and Robert Anderson, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Stacy Joe and Michelle Abercrombie, Dahlonega; Sonya Abercrombie and Mike Kautz, Oakwood; Chad Waters and Tammy Tucker, Dahlonega; Chan Waters, Gainesville; 7 great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Jerry and Doris Brookshire, Cleveland; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Cavenders Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Stephen Adams and The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sutton will lie in state at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of the service Thursday.
