Thomas William 'Billy' Taylor, Sr.

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Thomas  William “Billy” Taylor Sr. age 60, of Cleveland. “Billy” as he was affectionately known by his friends and family passed away Saturday,  August 19, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jody Winkler, Rev. Michael Clarke, Rev. Mike Borchet and Rev. Ronnie Dockery officiating Interment to follow in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chris Butler officiating  
Billy was born in Demorest, Georgia on April 13, 1957. He attended Lumpkin County Schools and proudly served his country in United States Army where he was deployed to Desert Storm. Billy graduated from Piedmont College where he received a Masters Degree in Business. He  attended North Georgia Technical College where he studied Heating and Air, later teaching this subject at the the College. For a number of years,Billy owned and operated Taylor Heating and Air and more recently was employed with Baldwin Winair. Those who knew Billy will remember him as a gentle man who loved his God, his family and his country. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his mother, Vernelle Taylor; nephew, Jeremy Dockery; grandparents Wes and Mandy “Mama” Turner and Bill and Viola Taylor as well as a host of aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen Taylor, Cleveland; daughters, Erika Williams (Ryan) of Cleveland, Amanda Brodsky (Ryan) also of Cleveland; son, Thomas ‘Billy” Taylor Jr., Cleveland; sisters, Debbie Dockery (Jerrell) Cleveland, Vickie Lunsford (Terry), Dahlonega, Pattie Rose (Kevin), Blairsville; brothers, Cliffie Taylor, Cleveland, Jeffery Taylor, Cleveland and Bradley Taylor  also of Cleveland. He was known as ‘Papa Bill” to his cherished grandchildren,Evalei and Callie Brodsky and “Bill Bill” to his precious nieces and nephews.
