Doris graduated from Clarkston High School in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart Gene Persall. They were married for 47 years prior to his death in 2010. They started their life in Pensacola, FL as Gene was in the Navy and lived on the Navel Base. In 1964 they moved back to Stone Mountain, GA to live near their family. Doris prided herself in her family and throughout her life, and her love and support were always evident. Doris and Gene bought a motor home in their middle age years and had plans to travel the United States one mile at the time. She enjoyed many vacations out west with Gene and her 2 children and created some of her most favorite memories. Early in her career she worked for Suburban Picture Frame & Trophy but eventually moved on to become a Secretary to the Dean for Dekalb Technical College. She retired from Dekalb Tech in 2004 as her first grandchild was being born and she insisted that she needed to be a full time Grandma. She moved to Buford in 2004 to be close to her daughter Dana, Son-in-Law Ed and her new granddaughter Ramsey, which was the sunshine of her life. She was blessed again in 2008 when her son Bryan married Pam and her family grew to have 3 more grandchildren and now 4 great grandchildren. She was a beautiful lady inside and out and blessed by everyone who was lucky enough to meet her. She had a strong faith in Christ, loved her family, loved her church and loved her friends. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Tony McCollum officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery, Tucker, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time for the service.
