Mrs. Marjorie Odom Rives, age 86, of Atlanta and Dahlonega, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
Mrs. Rives was born in Hall County on April 14, 1931 to the late Robert Tombs and Dora Inez Holtzclaw Odom. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Brice Harmon Rives. Mrs. Rives worked as secretary for Miller and Miller Printing Company. She was a member of the Atlanta Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Mrs. Rives was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA for 56 years, where she faithfully served as a children’s choir leader, Sunday School teacher, office staff, cook, Vacation Bible School, and Youth volunteer.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, David Michael Rives and Sharon Stohrer, Columbus, OH; son, Stephen Brice Rives, Sandy Springs; daughter and son in law, Diane and John Hiles, Atlanta; grandchildren, Rives Hiles, Grace Hiles Pack, Taylor Pack and John Gordon Hiles, all of Atlanta.
Graveside services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Dahlonega, GA. The Rev. Daniel Headrick will officiate. A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Northside Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Dr. Atlanta, GA . The Rev. James Lamkin will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
