Mrs. Leona Blackwell Anderson, age 84 of Dahlonega, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017.
Mrs. Anderson was a native and lifetime resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on July 17, 1933 to the late Robert Leo and Dolly Mary Ann Blackwell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Anderson, daughter, Bonnie Howard, great granddaughter, Kinsley Howard, and great grandson, David Allen Grizzle, sisters, Bertha Sullens and Fannie Lee Grindle, brothers, Carl Blackwell, Claude Blackwell, George Blackwell, Edison Blackwell, Fred Blackwell, and Roy Blackwell. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and a member of Philippi Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Parker, Dahlonega; Annette Stringer, Dahlonega; daughters and sons in law, Sherrie and Forrest Head, Dahlonega; Jeanette and Kenneth Brown, Carrolton, GA; Elizabeth and Larry Knight, Cleveland, GA; son and daughter in law, Donald and Gail Anderson, Cleveland; son Roger Anderson, Cleveland; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Philippi Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene O’Kelly, The Rev. Tim Hicks, The Rev. Jerry Whitlock, and The Rev. Jason Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 P.M. Sunday and all day Monday.
