Joyce Torcivia passed away peacefully on August 5, 2017 due to complications from a stroke. She was born Joyce Mary Petrykowski in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 3, 1931. She was married to Peter Torcivia for 63 years. They moved to Atlanta in 1962.
Joyce received a BS from the Marquette University School of Speech in 1953. After teaching in the field for several years, she obtained a second degree in Library Science from Georgia State University and served as librarian at Norcross High School for 21 years. She retired in 1991.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Peter, two sons and their wives, Louis and Peggy Torcivia, and Bob and Dawn Torcivia, daughter and husband Beth and Jerry McClellan, grandchildren David Torcivia, Gina Bennett, Michael Torcivia, Shannon Morris, Steven Torcivia, and Nick Torcivia, three great grandchildren, and her sister Claudia Stelter.
Visitation will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch. Entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Sandy Springs, GA.
