Mr. James R. Maltbie age 76 of Flowery Branch passed away on Thursday July 27, 2017 at his residence following a brief illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday July 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, where the Masonic Lodge will conduct the services. Reverend Albert Whitlock and Brother Mason Phil Wofford will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday July 29, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Maltbie was born on January 22, 1941 in Marshall County, Alabama to the late Homer Maltbie and Pearl Holsonback Maltbie. He was retired from Hardy’s Chevrolet and was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Billy Maltbie, and sister, Dorthene Bright.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheri Maltbie of Flowery Branch, daughter, MarRana Nix of Flowery Branch, grand-daughter, MaryLana Nix, grand-son, Hunter Nix, grand-daughter, Karli Nix, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas “Tommy” Maltbie (Shelby) of Albertville, Alabama, brother and sister-in-law, Wayne Maltbie (Sylvia) of Gadsden, AL, and 2 special friends, Chris Williams and Salvador Marceleno.
