Rev. Samuel James Pruitt, age 74 of Lula, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
Born in Cumming, Georgia on December 28, 1942, he was a son of the late L.B. and Lillie Mae Carter Pruitt. Rev. Pruitt served as pastor for a total of 35 years with the Congregational Holiness Church, having been a pastor of both Nelson Worship Center and Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Rev. Pruitt was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Pruitt; sisters, Rosa Lee Holtzclaw, Louise Strickland and Linda Patrick.
Surviving are his wife of 49 ½ years, Magalene Crocker Pruitt of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Todd & Julie Pruitt of Texarkana, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle & Donald Milligan of Lula and Sandra & Rodney Helton of Murrayville; grandchildren and spouses, Rolando & Karen Castrejon, Emmanuel & Nicole Castrejon; Marissa & Doug Maynor; grandchildren, Alaina Castrejon, Brianna Helton, Caleb Helton, Jasmine Pruitt; great grandchildren, Alec Castrejon and Acacia Castrejon; sisters, Juanita Smith of Marietta and Lottie Mae Armour of Covington.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Friday, July 28, 2017 at Mount Sinai Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Rodney Helton, Rev. Scotty Poole and Rev. J.D. Sosebee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Mike Spence officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 pm on Thursday.
