Tommie Lee Goss

Obituary Date: Sunday, July 23, 2017

Tommie Lee Goss, 69, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on July 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. Tommie died due to a brief struggle with cancer.

He was born in Alto, Georgia on July 27, 1947 to James and Lola Goss. Tommie was the oldest of 3 children. Upon completing his education at East Hall High School, he served in the US Army. He served as an MP during his time in Korea. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Gainesville where he resumed his job with the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. After 42 years, Tommie retired from Pepsi Cola. Many of his years were spent working at the J&J Foods where he was known to many and a friend to all. Tommie never met a stranger and didn’t hesitate to offer help to anyone who asked.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol. They enjoyed almost 23 years of marriage. After his retirement from Pepsi, Tommie and Carol enjoyed working side by side in their vending business and real estate ventures. They loved to travel and greatly enjoyed their time at the beach. Tommie loved to fish and enjoyed sunsets over the gulf coast.

Tommie is also survived by his daughters, Tammie Grizzle, Gainesville and Tina Troy and her husband Carl, Gainesville. Step children, Kimberlee Robertson and her husband Mike, Flowery Branch and Kurtiss Hirt, Gainesville. Grandchildren: Spencer Hyatt (Amanda), Ashley Barrett (Brandon), Robert Troy (Ashley), Lanie Robertson, Madison Hirt, Lexie Robertson, Ethan Hirt and Bobbie Troy. Great-grandchildren: Madison & Wyatt Barrett, Addie Hyatt and Marshall Troy. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara & Lewis Couch, Flowery Branch as well as many nieces, nephews and many other special family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Hamby, formerly of Gainesville.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park with Mike Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
