Valla Jo Clifton

Valla Jo Clifton, age 89, of Dacula, GA, died Tuesday, July 19, 2017. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Dr. Matthew Cawthorn will officiate. The Family will receive friends Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 2:00- 3:00 pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Earl Clifton. She is survived by her children, Marcia Finucane, Aurora, CO, Andrea Clifton (Donald Matthews), Dacula, GA, Mark Clifton (Kim Clifton), Brick, NJ, David Clifton (Tamara Clifton), Dunedin, FL; grandchildren, Jason Birt, Patrick Shirley, Nicole Shirley, Brian Finucane, Colin Finucane, Mark Clifton, Jr., Conrad Clifton, Cameron Clifton; great grandchildren, Tristan Shirley, Carter Shirley, Ava Finucane, Liam Finucane, Micah Clifton; sister in-law, Lois Wood (Lynn), Smyrna, GA. Jo was born in Douglas, GA, lived in Hartwell, GA for 15 years and had lived in the Atlanta area the past 50 years. She was of the Lutheran faith and sang in the church choir. Jo was retired from teaching with the Gwinnett County School System, a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association and founding board member for Peach State Credit Union.
