James E. McCoy passed away on July 19, 2017 . He was 75. He is survived by his wife, Jean Terrell McCoy, daughter, Susan M. McCorkle and husband Skip; granddaughters, Katy McCorkle and Amberly McCorkle, sister, Mary M. McCoy and husband, Jerry; sister, Ellen Baty and husband, Greg, Jim and Calie Terrell, Cheryl and Doug McDowell, and Susan and Pat Thornhill, several nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School, Winston-Salem, N.C. and attended Texas Christian University and Wake Forest College. He joined the Navy Reserves and in 1965 began his career at Southern Bell. He retired in 2002 after 37 years service. He loved all things music and if you were lucky enough to receive one of his mix tapes/cds you were truly blessed and, hopefully, still enjoying it today. He cherished every moment spent with his daughter and granddaughters and never missed an opportunity to talk about them and show pictures. And they adored him.
No services are planned and a memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association in Jim's name (or charity of your choice).
