Janice Irene Webb

Obituary Date: Tuesday, July 18, 2017
Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Janice Irene Alexander Webb, age 75 of Demorest. Janice passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Friday, July 21, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Webb and Rev Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery. Janice was born in White County on May 14, 1942 to the late Marlin Alexander and Dicie Palmer Alexander. She was a graduate of White County High School and was a member of Demorest Baptist Church. Janice worked for a number of years with Johnson & Johnson (Chicopee), and more recently with the Georgia Department of Corrections at Lee Arrendale Correctional Facility retiring from both. Janice loved and cherished her family, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or cousins,  she was always the source of comfort for those hurting, encouragement for those who doubted and cheered in their victories. Her love of family earned her the title of matriarch, a title she took seriously, whether is was planning a reunion or get together or simply making a phone call to one she was just “checking on” Janice  was a cornerstone of the family.  

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her sisters, Gail Brown, Harriet Dillard, Edith Tyner, Lorene Lowery and LaVaughn Hampton as well as brothers  Curtis Alexander and C.L.Dillard. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ted Webb, Demorest, sons, Wista and Amy Webb, Demorest, Tim and Kathy Webb, Demorest; grandchildren, T.W. Webb, Tallahassee, FL, Victoria Webb, Arlington, VA, Georgia Webb and Janie Beth Webb, both of Demorest;  brothers ,Kenneth Alexander (Margie), Cornelia and Jack Dillard ( Gladys ) of Rex. Janice is also survived by a number of niece, nephews and cousins, all of whom who she considered special as well many close and dear friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon and evening from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
