Darrel Beaver

Obituary Date: Sunday, July 16, 2017

Darrel Beaver, 75, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away at home on July 16th, 2017 after an extended illness.

He was born in Camden-on-Gauley, WV the youngest child of seven to the late Clarence Beaver and Vena Jones Beaver.

At the age of 18, Darrel moved to Cocoa Beach, FL where he worked as a firefighter before moving to Seattle. He then moved to Atlanta, where he worked as an Auto Salesman, then with Edwards-Warren Tire Company selling earth mover tires.

There he met Kay and later they married in 1981. He then moved to Kernersville, NC with his family and retired to Gainesville, GA in 2000.

During his life, Darrel most enjoyed spending time in the mountains, hunting, fishing, camping and he would often host cookouts with friends. He owned several classic cars and frequently enjoyed trips to Pigeon Forge for car shows.

He had a special love of animals and would often bring new pets home unannounced. Everything from cats, dogs, and horses to chickens, ducks, rabbits, parrots, and reptiles.

He leaves his wife of 36 years, Kay (Godfrey) Beaver; his daughter, Stephanie Beaver; his sister, Glendine (Robert) Kelley of Summersville, WV; numerous other relatives, beloved friends, and pets.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Wade (Jackson), Lucile (Jackson), James, Buren and Denzil.

On Sunday, July 30th a visitation luncheon for friends and family will be held in the fellowship hall at St. Paul United Methodist Church (404 Washington Street NW, Gainesville, GA 30501) from 12:30pm to 2:00pm. A memorial service will follow with Rev. Geoff Grubbs presiding at 2:30pm in the sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org). Flowers should be delivered by Saturday, July 29th to Little & Davenport Funeral Home (355 Dawsonville HWY, Gainesville, GA 30501) for transport to the church on Sunday.
