William Larry McCord

Mr. William Larry McCord, age 81, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 under the care of Providence Hospice. He is survived by his first wife, Peggy Thomas McCord of Norcross, GA, children David Lance McCord, Cornelia, GA, daughter-in-law Amy McCord, Melinda “Lynn” McCord Ashburn, Dacula, GA and son-in-law Ted Ashburn. His current wife, Joanne Carpenter McCord, Bainbridge, GA; stepsons Charlie Godwin, Bainbridge, GA and David Godwin, Las Vegas, NV. Seven grandchildren; Angel McCord, Annalynne McCord, Rachel McCord, Brooke Felt, Heather Felt, Trey Felt, and Jonathan McCord.  Mr. McCord was born on October 2, 1935 in Atlanta, GA. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, and a graduate of Southern Tech.  He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was the owner of McCord Insulation Company in Decatur, GA.  He was a former member of Mount Carmel Christian Church in Stone Mountain and member of Sutton United Methodist Church in Bainbridge, GA.  He enjoyed playing tennis and watching golf. He also loved his cabin on Lake Burton. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 2 PM in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA with Pastor Ken Taylor officiating.  Interment will follow for immediate family at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16,  from 1pm to 2pm at the funeral home.
