Richard Neal May

Obituary Date: Sunday, July 9, 2017

Richard Neal May, 70, of Cumming GA passed away on Sunday July 9, 2017.

He was born on August 5th, 1946 in Magee, Mississippi and was the first born and only son of Jimmie Neal May and Helen Marvin May, who have both predeceased him.

Richard is survived by his wife Constance Fisher May of Cumming. He is also survived by his only son Jason Wyatt May and his sister Linda Elizabeth May. Additionally, he is survived by his only grandson, Nathaniel Kevin May, on whom he felt the sun rose and set. 

Richard graduated from Gordon High School in Decatur, GA where he was inducted into the National Honor Society.  He then went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Surveying and Mapping at Southern Technical College. There he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He was later President of the local chapter of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia for 2 years.

He started his own survey business in Duluth, Georgia in 1979 as Richard May & Associates. Then in 1985, he purchased the Mize Brothers Survey Company and it became Richard May & Associate’s in Cumming, GA. There he ran a successful business until 2007 when he retired. He was one of the highest sought-after expert witness in regards to Land Litigation.

He was a devoted family man who loved being a father and grandfather and passing those skills on to several other boys who always managed to be around him.

The family will receive friends on Friday July 14, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA.
