Truman B Thompson

Truman B. Thompson, age 93, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mae Buice Thompson; parents, Emory and Martha Ann Thompson; brothers, J. W. Thompson, Milton Thompson, Dewey Thompson, O’Felton Thompson and Virgil Thompson. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Thompson Olsen and husband, Doug, Morganton, GA; grandson, Dwayne and Melissa Thompson, Flowery Branch, GA; great grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Flowery Branch, GA and Emma Thompson, Flowery Branch, GA; brothers-in-law, Gladston “Glad” Sudderth, Buford, GA and Maron Buice, Buford, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and caregiver, Shelia Thomas.

Mr. Thompson was born February 8, 1924 in Lawrenceville, GA. He was a 1941 graduate of Lawrenceville High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II including the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Thompson was retired from the State of Georgia, Department of Corrections as Chief Probation Officer with twenty-one years of service. He was a Mason at Buford Masonic Lodge No. 292 F. & A.M. where he had received his fifty year pin. He was a long time member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church for more than fifty years.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Pirkle officiating. Masonic graveside service and interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
