Matthew Paul DelGrosso

Obituary Date: Friday, July 7, 2017

Matthew Paul DelGrosso, 50, of Dawsonville, GA, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2017 at Northside Forsyth Hospital, Cumming, GA.

Born in Lorain, OH, where he resided until he later moved to Charlotte, NC, Tampa, FL and Dawsonville, GA.

He was employed by Hewlett Packard for 10 years where he worked as a Custom Account Specialist.

Matthew was involved with the Boy Scouts during his earlier years and achieved the highest honor of scouting, Eagle Scout.  He graduated from Lorain Catholic High School in 1984 and graduated from technical school.  Matt was supportive of volunteer efforts in his communities and through Hewlett Packard, where he participated in various efforts over the years and most recently was the coordinator for the Red Cross blood drives.  He cherished spending time with his family, continuing family traditions and creating new traditions over the hears of his life.  Matt's greatest pride and joy was his only child, Anthony.  Matt enjoyed his close network of friends in the Atlanta area, as well as his long friendships with others in Ohio and Charlotte, NC.  He too enjoyed cooking, walking on the beach and taking in sunsets over the ocean.  Matt found comfort in hiking, especially on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, where he made numerous trips during the past few years.  

Matthew is survived by his son, Anthony Philip DelGrosso of New York, NY, sister, Carol DelGrosso of Wilmington, NC, three nieces, Rachelle Knapp of Concord, Ca, Christina Neuberger, San Antonio, TX, Katherine DelGrosso of Los Gatos, CA and one nephew, Michael B. DelGrosso of San Francisco, CA.  He also was a great-uncle to a niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Christina DelGrosso, sister, Noreen D. Knapp and brother, Michael J. DelGrosso.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McDonald & Son, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA  30040 where he will be cremated.
A service celebrating his life will be held at Kaya Vineyards and Winery, 5400 Town Creek Road, Dahlonega, GA  30533, on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 7:00pm.
