Robert Harrison Hummer Jr.

Robert Harrison Hummer, Jr, 73, of Sugar Hill, Georgia passed away on July 4, 2017. He was the son of the late Robert Harrison Hummer, Sr and the late Lesta F. Hummer of Millwood, Virginia.  

Bob began working with his dad, a general contractor, as a laborer and carpenter around the age of 12.  He became interested in the design and construction of buildings.  After college, the experience he gained as a project manager for commercial and residential building eventually led him into the management of real estate and facilities for corporations in Virginia and Maryland.  Outside of work he was an active scouter in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as an assistant scoutmaster and on the Lord Fairfax District Committee.  He was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church.

Bob is survived by Linda, his wife of 51 years; son, Robert Hummer III and daughter-in-law Robyn Hummer - his sons, Jonathan and Christopher Hummer - her sons and daughters-in-law, Dusty and Amanda Dockery, Jacob and Mariah Scarborough, Seth Scarborough and their families; daughter and son-in-law, Aimee Hummer Tait and Franklin Tait and their sons and daughter, Nathan, Ian, Andrew and Anna Tait; an uncle, T.H. (Jake) Fleming; many cousins and family members.  

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary of the Buford United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Buckman officiating, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall of the new CLC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Buford First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 329, Buford, GA 30515 in memory of Bob Hummer.  Burial will be in Virginia.
