Joseph (Joey) Donald Kerns, 37, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on June 28, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 on the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Mark Smith and Reverend Larry Allison will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Born on March 2, 1980 in Gainesville Ga., he graduated Johnson High School and Gainesville Junior College where he received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and also certified as a Wrecker Master. Joey, a tow truck driver, was loved by all of his wrecker friends and will be greatly missed. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Mr. Kerns is preceded in death by his grandmother, Norma (Ninny) Jean Kerns; grandfather, Clyde Martin; uncle, Chip Kerns; great grandmother, Lottie Mae Kerns; great grandfather, Joe Don Kerns; great grandmother, Hazel Norrell-Nunn; great uncle, Jack Norrell.
Mr. Kerns is survived by the love of his life, daughter, Lottie Marie Kerns; mother and step father, Kathy and Steve Martin; grandfather, Don Kerns Paw Paw all of Gainesville; cousin, D.J. Kerns and aunt, Penny Kerns of Oakwood; aunts and uncles, Betty and Ronnie Roberts of Newport News, VA, Pat and Ernie Throckmorton of Newport News, VA; grandmother, Granny Betty Martin; aunt, Melody Reed; step-sisters, Mandy Payne, all of Gainesville, Katie Nussbaum (Matt) of Savannah; girlfriend, B.J. Phelps and her children, Riley and Kali Murphy of Flowery Branch; special friend, Charlie Barrett of Flowery Branch; his dogs Frazier and Bubu and many cousins and special friends.
