Douglas Harold “Doug” Franklin, age 69 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 following an extended illness.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on December 28, 1947, he was a son of the late Arlin John Franklin & Cleo Jameson Franklin. Doug was a co-owner of Franklin Brother’s Plumbing & Electric and was a very loving Husband, Daddy, & Granddaddy. He was a faithful member & deacon of the Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Franklin Thomason, brothers-in-law, Bill Glore, Lee Sellers, nephews, Joe Glore, Dennis Glore, & Duane Rice.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years (June 16, 1967), Jimmie Sue Shirley Franklin of Clarkesville, GA; daughters & sons-in-law, Debbie & James Massey, Denise & Wesley Caudell all of Cornelia, GA; special nephew Tracey Lee Shook, Sumpter, SC; brothers & sisters-in-law, Rev. Kenneth & Marlyn Franklin of Cleveland, GA; Ernest Franklin of Demorest, GA; Johnny & Karen Franklin of Mt. Airy, GA; sisters & brothers-in-law, Maxine & Ray Rice, Dorothy Sellers, Joyce Glore all of Cornelia, GA; Howard Thomason of Mt. Airy, GA; grandchildren, Austin, Ashby, & Avery Massey, Arlin John “AJ”, Adam, & Addie Caudell, all of Cornelia, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Webb, Rev. Billy Burrell, Rev. Terry Rice, & Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
