Mrs. Lilla “Lil” Daniels Bell was born in Vienna, Georgia, on March 24, 1945, to Lucile Foster Daniels and Damon Frank Daniels. She was the first born of seven siblings. Lilla spent her early life in Vienna and graduated as valedictorian from Vienna High Industrial High School in June 1962.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from The Fort Valley State University and continued her education with a Master’s degree in Music Education from Brenau University and an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Georgia.
Lilla began her teaching career at the age of 21, teaching at Vienna High School, Jesup City School System and Lamar County School System.
Lilla married her college sweetheart Bedarius Bell, Sr. on June 4, 1965 in Vienna. The couple moved to Gainesville in 1974. Lilla taught at Myers Elementary and later Fair Street School, where she retired as Assistant Principal.
Lilla’s love for music was endless, as she enjoyed singing with the Gainesville Chorale and directing and accompanying various music groups throughout the community and her home church, St. Paul United Methodist Church. Lilla was a charter member of the Lambda Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club and served as a volunteer at the Gainesville Historical Center.
Lilla is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bedarius Sr.; two sons, Bedarius Jr. and Ashley Daniel; and five grandchildren.
