Madge Chitwood Bond

Mrs. Madge Chitwood Bond, age 92 of Lewis Street, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.

A daughter of the late Silas G. and Sadie Reynolds Chitwood, she was born August 25, 1924 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County.  She was employed with LeTourneau, Coats and Clark and later Sky City.  She was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church, a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class and a Girls Auxiliary Leader. She played basketball for Franklin County High School and The Letourneau Team.

Survivors include her husband of the home, L.G. Bond; two daughters and son-in-law, Iris and Ray Durden of Statesboro, Georgia and Elaine Bond and special friend, Marilyn Mendolia of Oxford, Mississippi; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jill Bond of Bryson City, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Matt Durden, Meagan Cole, Brett Bond, Susan Garrison and Kellie Bond; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Nellie Chitwood of Lavonia and Irene Chitwood of Toccoa; brother-in-law, Paul and Charlotte Bond of Danielsville, Georgia.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 15, 2017, 2 O’clock P.M. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Paul Garrison officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Matt Durden, Brett Bond, Justin Garrison and Jerry Varnado.

Flowers are to be omitted.  Memorials may be made to Hill Street Baptist Church, P.O Box B, Toccoa, Georgia, Hospice of NE Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 or to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Mrs. Madge Chitwood Bond.

Interment will follow in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Madge Chitwood Bond.
