Donald George Braddell

Donald George Braddell, 81, father of Gainesville resident Laurie Beth Seitz, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2017 at NEGA Medical Center after a short illness.

Mr. Braddell was born February 4, 1936 in Paterson, NJ to John Francis Braddell and Pauline Elizabeth Ripley Braddell. He and Elizabeth Julia Philip met as children and married June 6, 1958. Mr. Braddell graduated Farleigh Dickinson University with a degree in industrial engineering. After completing USN Officer Candidate School, he served as a Lieutenant, JG aboard ship in the Mediterranean. Reentering civilian life, Mr. Braddell spent his career in the carpet industry around the country with Mohasco/Mohawk, Amtex (Modesto CA & Cincinnati OH) and Dorsett Industries (Dalton GA). 

At the time of his death, he resided at Gardens of Gainesville formerly Dogwood Forest. His wife preceded him in death October 6, 2009, but he is survived by his children Laurie Beth (Kevin) Seitz of Gainesville, GA, Jeffrey Scott (Deanna) Braddell of Augusta, GA and Kellie Dawn Braddell of West Point, CA; granddaughters Macy Pauline Dwyer and Callen Elizabeth Seitz; brother Jack Ripley Braddell of Totowa, NJ; and two nephews and a niece.

A memorial service is scheduled for this Friday, June 16, 2017 2:00 pm at Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville. Refreshments to follow immediately after at Atlanta Botanical Gardens (Gainesville).
