Donald E. Hammond

Donald E. Hammond, age 80, of Gainesville Georgia passed away on June 11, 2017 after an extended illness.

He was born on January 11, 1937 in Walton County, GA to the late Charles and Evelyn Hammond. Mr. Hammond was a 1958 graduate of the University of Georgia and owned several successful businesses in Gainesville, including Don Hammond, Inc and Gainesville Asphalt. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time in his mountain house in Habersham County, GA.

Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife, Eloise Hammond of Gainesville; his children and step-children, Lynn (Roy) Gilleland of Acworth, Angie (Mike) Dayton of Gainesville,  Larry Hammond of Gainesville, and Ty (LuRee) Chapman of Gainesville; grandchildren , step-grandchildren and spouses, Amy Gilleland (Daniel House) of Greenville, NC, Clara (Jeff) Nieland of Billings, MT. Cayla (Mike) Cooper of Trinity, FL, Scott Gilleland of Boston, MA, Matt Olson of Redmond, WA, Thomas Dayton of Gainesville, Seth Chapman of Gainesville, Josh Chapman of Gainesville and one great grandchild , Caide Cooper of Trinity, FL.

He is also survived by his siblings, Peggy (Elliott) Denmark of Tucker, Eleanor (George) Prather of Good Hope, GA and Gary Hammond of Bogart, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 14  from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. following a private burial for immediate family.
