Joyce E. Tomanek, age 81 of Clarkesville passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Born in Detroit, MI on November 3, 1935, was the daughter of the late Butch and Bernice Traverse Fehner. Mrs. Tomanek was a woman of many talents and her children refer to her as Superwoman. She was an artist, author and outdoor enthusiast. As a ham radio operator she was known around the world by her call sign KA4EEO. Mrs. Tomanek was a very active and devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarkesville where she served as Deacon. She was a selfless person who lived her life to the fullest and an inspiration to anyone she met. She was a loving wife, mother and caregiver and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Tomanek; sons, James Robert Smelser and Gene Tomanek; daughter, Joyce Marie Tomanek; identical twin sister, Judy Ann Wood.
Survivors include her sons, Steven D. Smelser of Powder Springs, GA, and James Tomanek of Michigan; daughter, Laura S. Weiss of Temple, GA; grandchildren, Joshua James Smelser, Sarah Christine Smelser Simmons, Tommy Frank Tomanek, Stephen Tomanek, Jeff Tomanek, Susan Tomanek, Randall Tomanek, and John Tomanek; numerous great grandchildren and friends.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 11 am Saturday, June 17, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Clarkesville followed by a reception for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Joyce E. Tomanek to the First Presbyterian Church in Clarkesville.
