William “Bill” Black, age 86, of Demorest, Georgia went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Mr. Black was born on August 28, 1930 in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late Charlie and Florence Black. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie “Carol” Ledford Black; son, James Timothy Black; grandchild, Crystal Lovell Toler; and seven siblings. He was a member of Habersham Baptist Church. Mr. Black was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Clarkesville Mills with 36 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Black enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Mark Wofford, of Gainesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Polly Black, of Demorest, GA; Phil and Martha Black, of Clarkesville, GA; Randall and Samantha Black, of Demorest, GA; sister, Ladelle Goss, of Clarkesville, GA; ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Kenneth McEntire and Rev. Doug Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force, Rabun County DAV Post #15, the Grant-Reeves V.F.W. Post 7720, and the American Legion Post # 84.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017 and from 1:00 p.m. to the funeral hour on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
