Thomas Lawrence Mitchell, age 66, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by family, after an extended illness. Born 10/27/1950 on Lages Airforce base in Ponta DelGada Sao Miguel, Azores to Junior Lawrence Mitchell and Hellen Frances (Michonski) Mitchell.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Bob Perri will officiate.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Florence Ann (Weller) Mitchell; son, Andrew of Flowery Branch and his children, Jacob and James; son, Erik (Kristi) and their children, Thomas, Payton and Boone of Hoschton, GA; son, Gregory (Danielle) and their children, Rhys, Reagan and Ryleigh of Loganville; and sister, Norma (Mitchell) McCain of South Hadley, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by sister, Lucille M (Mitchell) Fillmore and brother, Douglas H Mitchell both of Belchertown Massachusetts.
Thomas was a graduate of South Hadley High School in Massachusetts and a graduate of Springfield Technical College, with a degree in Graphic Arts Management. Thomas was also a Sergeant in the 1st 104th Yankee Division out of Chicopee, MA from 1969 – 1975.
Thomas was founder and CEO of Vision Graphics Commercial Printing company of Ludlow, Massachusetts and then Springfield, Massachusetts, with his sons Andrew, Erik, and Gregory.
Thomas was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He also was a talented carpenter and hobbyist. He created and built his family and friends numerous hand built pieces which will be cherished forever. Thomas will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be missed greatly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung association in his name.
